Military technologies and their development. 150 teachers from Frankivsk and the region were trained at WeTrueGun
November 5, 2024In today's environment, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) play a crucial role in the military sector, providing reconnaissance, surveillance, and combat mission capabilities. The growing demand for qualified UAV operators has led to the emergence of specialized training institutions, among which the WeTrueGun training center holds a prominent position.
About the UAV Pilot Training Center
WeTrueGun is a certified school for training external UAV pilots (operators), officially accredited by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. This certification confirms the high level of training and compliance of the educational programs with state standards.
Training Program
The training program at WeTrueGun combines theoretical and practical disciplines aimed at preparing specialists for the military accounting specialty MOS 216 — "external UAV pilot." The course lasts approximately 35–37 days and includes 340 academic hours. The program consists of five main stages:
- Introductory Course (1 day, 10 hours): Covers safety measures and standardized operating procedures.
- Course on General Theoretical Knowledge (7 days, 70 hours): Includes communication tools, specialized and technical training, as well as flight training.
- Course on Basic Flight Skills (12 days, 120 hours): Focuses on engineering and flight training, including practical flights.
- Tactical Application Course (12 days, 120 hours): Involves training on the tactics of using UAVs in combat conditions.
- Final Assessment (2 days, 20 hours): Comprises final exams at the WeTrueGun training center and at one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's training centers to obtain MOS 216.

Training Features
A key feature of training at WeTrueGun is intensive practical preparation. Flight training begins with the use of simulators such as LiftOFF and the military simulator OBŘIY. After mastering virtual flights, trainees proceed to real training on TinyWhoop-type drones, gradually transitioning to FPV drones ranging from 5 to 10 inches.
The knowledge imparted at WeTrueGun is not available on YouTube or Telegram channels. Specialized skills that enable effective combat and survival are transmitted directly from instructors with combat experience, who continuously exchange insights with active-duty personnel. This ensures that our program remains current and reflects the realities of the battlefield.

Before commencing flights on training-combat FPV drones (7–10 inches) and reconnaissance types like Mavic and Autel, trainees undergo an engineering course on assembling and programming drones. Each trainee flies a drone they have personally assembled and programmed, fostering a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of UAV operation.
Our training program integrates theoretical and practical disciplines, including UAV application tactics, operation of situational awareness information systems ("Kropyva," "Delta," and others), and systems for online streaming. Topography, tactical medicine, and other essential skills for future Armed Forces of Ukraine soldiers are also integral parts of the training. The course covers knowledge of aviation meteorology, aerodynamics, human factors, airspace regulations, and UAV usage in various airspace types.
Significant emphasis is placed on terrain orientation. It's crucial for operators to know their location, their drone's position, and the flight path. While executing combat missions, UAV operators must memorize the area's map and all available landmarks, including elevations. Pilots should be able to analyze electronic reconnaissance data and, understanding the terrain and enemy electronic warfare frequencies, reach targets and strike without losing drone communication. These skills are practiced during practical sessions in various locations with both static and moving targets.
Employment After Training
Upon completing the course, graduates take an internal exam and subsequently, with WeTrueGun's support, undergo certification at an Armed Forces of Ukraine training center to obtain MOS 216. The training center closely collaborates with reputable military units and divisions, facilitating graduates' employment in top-tier units.
Training qualified UAV operators is one of the key needs of the modern Ukrainian army. The WeTrueGun school offers a structured and comprehensive training program that includes both technical and tactical preparation for future pilots. Thanks to certification from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, graduates of the training center have the opportunity to obtain MOS 216 through a simplified procedure at an Armed Forces training center and join top-tier military units.
Considering the critical role UAVs play in modern combat, training at the professional WeTrueGun school is not only a chance to master a new profession, but also to make a real contribution to victory. It is a path for those who want to fight smart, efficiently, and with cutting-edge technology.
